This Week

I turned 32 this week! After thirty, it doesn't seem that big of a deal, but you know you're getting older when the kids in your class tell you that their mom is the same age as you! When I started teaching, most parents were older then me, but more and more either I am the same age or older then them! I got to go out to eat with my best friends, Cyndi and Mary, after my shower at school! It was nice to just sit and relax and enjoy the fellowship!

We had our first shower at school on my birthday! It was great! We got a lot of nice stuff and our travel system! Robert and I were very pleased and we have another shower Sunday at church unless it gets postponed due to a death.

Garrett's room is pretty well set up with furniture and I washed the clothes I had last weekend, but we are waiting on a few remaining items and then I promise to post pictures of our nursery! It is very nice!

I went to the doctor on Thursday and they checked me and I had not started to dilate or thin, but my cervix was tilted forward which means it is ready to start! My mom and Aunt Tracie are flying in on my due date and my dad, stepmom, and brother are coming the weekend of my due date! I am excited that they will all be here and hope we get a baby in the early part of the week, so they all get to spend some time with him! I am starting to get uncomfortable and find it harder and harder to get a good night's sleep! The doctor asked me yesterday if I was having contractions and I said what do they feel like? She said if you don't know then you are not having them! Well, considering this is my first baby, a little hint of what to expect would have been nice. Plus, I am having pains, but have been told it is my round abdominal streching and today was having severe pain in the pelvic area and bottom of my stomach, but kind of wondered if it wasn't his head getting in position! Oh well, I guess we will see not this coming Monday, but next Monday what has happened!

My husband found out that he could take paternal leave with me, but he thought he'd just take a week! I tried to explain to him that my family would be here that week and then the next week his mom wants to come and he has the days so why doesn't he take until after Spring Break (3 weeks) and then we would have one week to ourselves with Garrett. Corbin would be there in the afternoon before he went back to his mom's, but the majority would just be the three of us. He hasn't made a decision yet! If I have a c-section, I'm not sure he'll have much choice because I think I will need him when everyone else is gone!

Corbin has had 2 really good weeks, so we are hopeful we are on an upward swing. His mother has started to try to discipline and reward as we do to some extent, so we are thankful for this! Baseball signups were the past two weekends and Robert thinks the coaches' meeting is Sunday afternoon, so here we go again! I enjoy baseball though and Robert is coaching so I won't have to listen to him grip about the coach...lol, but will have to listen to him dissect the game on the way home! Sometimes I wish I was riding home with someone else....lol! Corbin enjoys baseball, but I think he enjoys all sports when he is playing them. He wants to play football, but Robert told him until he toughened up and didn't cry every time he fell down, then he wasn't going to play because he wasn't going to watch him cry every time he got hit!

Well, I hope everyone else had a good week! Enjoy your weekend!

25 Random Things About Me

1. I am expecting my first baby in March, a boy, that we are naming Garrett Michael!

2. I love my stepson, Corbin like he is my own! I wish we had him all the time because it would be better for him to have a consistant routine and his weeks are better!

3. I have been married to my husband, Robert for 2 years, but we have been together for 4 years! We met at school. He teaches PE and at the time I was teaching 4th grade and my room was by the gym. So, he'd stop by and we'd chat and we became friends. We got married in Gatlinburg, TN on December 28, 2006 and had a wonderful Christmas holiday with our families over that week! He is wonderful to me and spoils me rotten!

4. I do not clean house! My husband is a fanatical cleaner and when we first moved in, I tried to clean and he just went behind me and did it his way, so I don't clean anymore! I do the laundry and unload/load the dishwasher. When I wasn't pregnant, I did the bathrooms, but since I've been pregnant, he just does that too!

5. I am originally from Arkansas, and moved to North Carolina 6 years ago with my best friend, Cyndi. We knew no one but each other, but we thought if we didn't do it then, then we never would! I am proud that I tried something new!

6. I miss my family in Arkansas horribly especially now that I am pregnant! Robert and I would move to Arkansas, but due to our custody arrangement, we can't take Corbin at this time! Corbin would love to live there too, but he knows we can't leave his mom.

7. I love being a teacher especially this year! I moved to 2nd grade after 8 years in 4th Grade! I was feeling burned out and now it is new every day and there is so much more you can do in the younger grades due to all the testing in the upper grades!

8. I love NASCAR! I have been to 2 races in Texas, a Busch race in St. Louis, MO, Qualifying in Kansas City, KS, a Busch race in Rockingham, NC, a Busch race in Daytona, FL on my honeymoon, that got rained out, and two races in Charlotte, NC! Living in Mooresville was great because you could see drivers in various places while you were out! I have actually been in the same place as Dale, Jr. (my favorite)!

9. I want to get my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and then my doctorate in Adminstration. My ultimate goal is to teach at the college level!

10. My husband and I are complete opposites! He loves the outdoors and I am more of an indoor girl! He is not social and I am extremely social! He is more of a homebody and I want to go out!

11. I want to get pregnant one more time to try for a little girl! My mom says no and my husband says we'll discuss it after delivery! I say I will be ready in 3 to 4 years to try again, but I definitely will not be one of those people who turn around and get pregnant right away!

12. I love Harry Potter, the books and the movies!

13. I love to shop! My husband hates it! We never go clothes shopping together! I go with Cyndi or Mary!

14. Corbin plays soccer, basketball, and baseball and Robert coaches all but basketball, which he will coach next year, and I love to go watch him play! I never knew how great it was to be a "soccer/basketball/baseball" mom until he came along!

15. I love to travel! I want to go anywhere and everywhere!

16. I would live at the beach if I could! My husband would live in the mountains! So, I guess neither of us will get our wish...lol!

17. I love to read! My husband calls me a nerd because I read all the time! I go to the library at least once a month and get 7 to 10 books! My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Fern Michaels, Patricia Cormwell, and James Patterson.

18. I have not had an enjoyable pregnancy! I love that I am having a baby and to feel him kick in my belly and what a miracle it all is, but it has been a rough road! I was sick until 19 weeks, I had kidney stones over Thanksgiving during my sister, Katie's wedding, and have been so tired! I can't drink milk because it makes me sick. I have had the crud for over a month and am told you just hold on to things longer when you are pregnant. My cheeks swelled and I was told that if I hadn't had the mumps they would think that was it, but it was just an infection and it would go away...which it did...a week later, but no medicine because you are pregnant! Now my feet and hands are swelling and I miss wearing normal clothes! But I wouldn't trade it for anything because in the end I will have a beautiful baby boy!

19. I am afraid of dying and not getting to see my baby grow up! My husband says he would not remarry if something happened to me, which I find hard to believe and he finds it hard to believe that I don't!

20. I would love to have Laser Hair Removal and never shave again!
21. I want to have Lasik Eye Surgery, but am scared my eyes are so bad I would still have to wear glasses!

22. My hair drives me crazy! It is so thick and has natural curl in it! I have to blow dry it with a round brush and use a straightener! I finally found someone that I love to cut it and who knows what looks good and how to make it easier to deal with!

23. I wish I had went off to college because I lived with my dad and stayed in the same area I went to high school! It would have been neat to have experienced a different environment during my college years.

24. In high school, I ran my first car, a gray Chevrolet Caprice, through a barbed wire fence when the accelerator stuck on my way home one day when I was a junior. I drove my aunt and uncle's car to church to pick up my cousins and someone backed into me. In college, I was driving past Ryan's and looked in my rearview mirror and ran up on the curb and it shot me across traffic and I caused a four/five car accident! Needless to say, I get a hard time about my driving when I am home!

25. I bite my nails, but prenatal vitamins have made them grow and I have worked hard not to bite them, so for the first time I actually have some nails!

Getting Started

After reading everyone else's blogs, I decided it was time to start my own! With family so far away, hopefully this is a way for them to keep up with what's going on in our crazy lives!
March is quickly approaching and we are looking forward to the birth of our baby boy, Garrett Michael. I am due on the 22nd and that is the day my mom and Aunt Tracie are flying out! Hopefully he comes while they are here! It seems pretty likely from what the doctors are saying.
Corbin is busy playing basketball and just being a boy in general! It is hard sometimes to deal with a week on and a week off, but he does well the majority of the time. He is excited about his baby brother, but I am worried it will be a change for him because he has been the center of Robert's attention his whole life! Hopefully, the adjustment period goes smoothly! He had a good week in school this week, so he and Robert will be going night skiing tomorrow night! What a reward!
